NECA Reveals The Phantom And Elton John Action Figures

When I think of music, two things come to mind: Elton John and a sewer-living ghoul hungry for love. Sometimes it’s hard to tell the two apart, given the recent unpleasantness on Twitter, but the ghoul I’m speaking of is Lon Chaney’s Phantom of the Opera. Thankfully, NECA just announced that both musicians would be hitting stores in action figures form this coming Summer.

The Phantom is part of NECA’s “Ultimate” line of action figures. The classic Universal Monster stands 7″ tall and comes with multiple faces, a velvet-like cloak, and lots of articulation. NECA even includes the unnerving mask the Phantom uses to hide his hideous face. It’s got those dead eyes and everything. Ugh.

On a lighter note, the Elton John “Live in ’76” figure looks great. Decked out in patriotic garb, this 8″ tall representation of the legend comes with a piano, mic, stool, and multiple heads. NECA did a pretty solid job recreating Elton’s look from the Louder Than Concorde (But Not Quite As Pretty) Tour. So does this mean a Pinball Wizard version is in the near future?

Celebrating more horror legends, NECA is excited to reveal The Phantom of the Opera! Starring Lon Chaney, the 1925 silent movie was famed for the shocking appearance of the Phantom, which Chaney created himself and kept secret until the premiere.

In partnership with Elton John, NECA has produced a second deluxe tribute to the legend and his profound influence on both music and fashion.

I’d really like a Lon Chaney action figure, complete with a scaled dressing room and special effects kit. The man is so known for his creatures that the actor gets lost in the icons he created. Come on, NECA. You know an Ultimate Lon Chaney with interchangeable heads and a load of accessories would sell well. Get on it!
