Marvel Legends’ Avengers Wave Brings Orb and Wonder Man

Hasbro

Marvel Legends may have officially released every famous comic book character by this point, and it’s time to move into the oddities from the Avengers comics. This wave includes Extremis Iron Man, Ultimate Captain America, Orb, Wonder Man, Yelena Belova’s Black Widow, and Molecule Man.

Possibly the best figure in this line, aside from Wonder Man, is Yelena Belova’s Black Widow. Not only does the figure look cool, but she comes with many accessories, including multiple firearms, effects parts, a belt, and a gun holster. Molecule Man is the lamest figure in the bunch because the character’s face has no expression whatsoever. He’s just looking at you. At least Wonder Man has his usual smirk, and Strucker is gritting his teeth. Come on, Hasbro. If these figures will be bare-bones, at least give them some personality.

The odd one out in this announcement is Extremis Iron Man. He does not include a build-a-figure part and is super lite on accessories, yet he is still priced at $24.99. Expect these figures to ship out by June 1st, 2023.

So, what’s the build-a-figure this time? Puff Adder. I’d totally forgotten about this serpent-themed villainous mutant. He’s a no-frills figure, with a standard buck where the only genuinely original part is his head sculpt.

Again, Hasbro is forcing collectors to buy into the idea that windowless boxes are somehow a good thing. Not only does it limit the display possibilities, but it’s impossible to guarantee that the figure is not only MIB but if it’s even the right character, to begin with. Furthermore, the Legends’ price is steady at $24.99, and I doubt we will see it come down any time soon. So even with less plastic and the noticeable dip in quality over the past two years, we’re continuing to pay a premium to Hasbro.
