Konami Talks Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Resolution

A surprise reveal that was made alongside the announcement of Metal Gear Solid Delta was how Konami was putting together a collection of MGS games. Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Volume 1 brings together the first few Metal Gear Solid games, along with the VR Mission and Special Missions related to the first game. For many, this is a great compilation of classic stealth action games that have a massive fan base. And yet, MGS fans have wondered how will these games run on various platforms from the collection. Konami has now made a statement addressing many fans’ concerns.

In a statement sent over to IGN, Konami confirmed the specific resolution and frame rate for Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Volume 1. According to Konami, the target resolution and frame rate for the collection will be 1080p and 60fps for all platforms. At the same time, the Nintendo Switch version of the collection will run at 720p with 30fps in Switch handheld mode, while docked will have the collection running at 1080p and 30fps. Unfortunately, no platform will have the collection running any games at 4K resolution.

Following previews of the Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Volume 1, some fans were concerned that each of the games wouldn’t run at an acceptable frame rate and resolution. Some outlets that got hands-on time with the collection expressed the same concern in their own previews. Hopefully, with the statement released by Konami, much of the worry can be put to rest and Konami can live up to their commitment to handling each of the games with care.

The Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Volume 1 is also going to have a lot of extra content for all the games included. Whether there will be anything brand new for this collection of Metal Gear games is unknown. In previous retro game collections from Konami, like the ones for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Castlevania, there was a lot of bonus content that gave deeper looks into the creation of those games and series. If fans are lucky and this MGS collection is able to sell very well, we might see Konami tackle a Volume 2 with some of the other Metal Gear Solid games not included in this collection.

What do you think of the Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Volume 1? Will you be grabbing this collection and revisiting each of the games in it? What do you want to see Konami do with the Metal Gear series next? Let us know your thoughts about everything in the comment section down below!
