P.A. Works has dropped a trailer for its upcoming original anime film ‘Komada Jouryuusho e Youkoso,’ known in other markets as ‘Komada – A Whisky Family.’ The movie had its debut at the 2023 Annecy International Animation Film Festival, but the trailer reveals that it will receive a wide release in Japan on November 10, 2023.
Anime News Network reported, “Masayuki Yoshihara (The Eccentric Family, Mai no Mahō to Katei no Hi) is directing the film at P.A. Works. Yukito Kizawa and Munemasa Nakamoto, who both worked extensively on scripts for the Monogatari series and Sword Art Online franchise, are penning the screenplay. Tomomi Takada, a veteran P.A. Works key animator and inbetweener, drew the original character design concepts, while Kousuke Kawazura (The Eccentric Family) is designing those characters for animation, while also serving as chief animation director. Tatsuya Katō is composing the music. DMM is credited as producer. GAGA Corporation is distributing.”
The movie is part of the P.A. Works “workplace” entertainment series.

The movie stars Saori Hayami as Rui Komada, Yoshimasa Hosoya as Yasumoto, Kenshô Ono as Kôtarô Takahashi, and Maaya Uchida as Tomoko Kawabata.
AniList describes the synopsis as follows,
“Koutarou, a novice editor for a web news, visits Komada Distillery for a project on Japanese craft whisky. Led by a young female president Rui who recently took over the family business, the distillery works hard to reproduce its signature whisky KOMA they had to stop making years ago. KOMA was a brand that Rui’s grandfather and father had lovingly preserved and a symbol of happiness for all. However, not to mention financial backing, too many clues are missing to revive the whisky once lost. Rui, Koutarou, and the distillery supporters pull together every thread to bring back the whisky filled with family memories.”
