‘King of the Hill’ Creators Announce New Adult Animated Series ‘Common Side Effects’

Adult animation duo Mike Judge and Greg Daniels are having a busy time. After the return of their hit MTV series ‘Beavis and Butt-head,’ they announced that they would return to Texas with a relaunch of their hit cartoon sitcom ‘King of the Hill.’ They will also be executive producing a new Adult Swim television series ‘Common Side Effects,’ a comedy from Joe Bennet and Steve Hely.

“Adult Swim, the leader in adult animation and #1 destination for young adults, has greenlit ‘Common Side Effects,’ it was announced today at Annecy International Animation Film Festival. The half-hour comedy series delves into the complex reactions to the revelation of the mysterious elixir of life. ‘Common Side Effects’ was created by Joe Bennett and Steve Hely and is executive produced by ‘King of the Hill’ creators Mike Judge and Greg Daniels,” Warner Bros. Discovery said in a statement.

They continued, ‘”Common Side Effects’ follows former high school lab partners Marshall and Frances who begin to unravel a conspiracy involving big pharma and the federal government to suppress knowledge of a rare mushroom that may hold the key to curing all the world’s diseases.”

The series will air on Adult Swim before streaming to the MAX app. Cartoon Network also dropped a promo visual revealing the animation style of the show.

President of Adult Swim Michael Ouweleen said of the show, “Tonally, this is like nothing else in animation right now, so we knew immediately that ‘Common Side Effects’ belonged on Adult Swim.”

“Mike, Greg and this entire team have such deep pedigrees in the comedy and animation worlds, and this new series will tackle everything from government corruption to the pharmaceutical industry through their unique and hilarious perspectives,” he added.

Adult Swim has not given a release date for ‘Common Side Effects’ as of the writing of this article.
