Keanu Reeves has made a splash in pop culture with several iconic film roles including Neo from ‘The Matrix,’ John Wick in the self-titled action thrillers, Theodore Logan in the comedy trilogy ‘Bill & Ted,’ and that is just a start. Besides acting, he was also a bassist and backup vocalist for the rock band Dogstar. The trio which also includes drummer Robert Mailhouse as well as lead singer and guitarist Bret Domrose, reunited for a reunion concert at the BottleRock Napa Valley music festival.

In an interview with Billboard magazine, Reeves spoke about their reunion and whether he would “make time for” the band.

“It’s not ‘make time for it,’” he said. “It’s something that’s part of my life.”

“I missed playing together, I missed writing together, I missed doing shows together. It’s something I’ve always missed,” Reeves continued. “We came to a spot where we weren’t playing anymore, and I missed it … Once we started to play, and it felt good, and really positive and creative, that’s when it was like, ‘Okay, let’s make this happen.’”

The ‘Knock Knock’ actor also teased a possible album from the group saying, “I think all three of us just said, ‘Well, if we’re going to do this, let’s make a record.’”

“We played the catalog songs, and then we can’t help it — we just started writing,” he explained. “It’s a space that I love and a space that I tried to protect.”

A portion of their performance was captured on video:

After touring as a cover band in 1994, Dogstar’s first album was the 1996 EP ‘Quattro Formaggi’ which was released by Zoo Entertainment who also produced their second album ‘Our Little Visionary’ that same year. Their third album ‘Happy Ending’ was released in 2000 under the record label Ultimatum Music.

Singer and guitarist Gregg Miller originally sang lead vocals for the band before departing in 1995.
