Henry Cavill Set To Return In ‘The Man From U.N.C.L.E.’ Sequel?

He may not be back as Superman or Geralt of Rivia, but there is one character that Henry Cavill may be returning to. Giant Freakin Robot claims to have some information regarding Cavill’s return to his former role as Napoleon Solo in The Man From U.N.C.L.E. The site’s “trusted and proven sources” state that Guy Ritchie will once again be at the helm, and the sequel is already in development.

This isn’t the first time Cavill has teamed up with Guy Ritchie since the first film’s debut. According to a Screen Rant article from last October, the former Superman is set to work with the filmmaker on The Ministry Of Ungentlemanly Warfare, a WWII action picture.

The big screen adaptation of N.B.C.’s The Man From U.N.C.L.E. television series premiered in 2015. Cavil starred alongside Armie Hammer, Hugh Grant, Jared Harris, Elizabeth Debicki, and Alicia Vikander. It was a classy throwback Cold War spy action thriller, but not as memorable as a Bond film or the last two Kingsman films. U.N.C.L.E. pulled in only $107 million on an estimated $70-$80M budget. It’s unclear what caused audiences to snub their noses at this film.

I don’t remember a whole lot from The Man From U.N.C.L.E. except for Cavill’s role. Honestly, it was the same way for me when the old N.B.C. series was on syndication in the late 1980s. I tuned in, watched, and forgot most things about it. Then again, it was hard to compete with the A-Team and A.L.F. Maybe if the show had a catchy theme like Mission Impossible, it would have helped.

If there’s one old show I’d love to see Henry Cavill star in, that would be Have Gun Will Travel. What are your fantasy roles for Cavill? Let us know below.
