Funimation Announces Anime Renewals Including ‘The Case Study of Vanitas’


The Sony anime streaming service Funimation made a slew of announcements regarding the future of several shows that they have picked up. On their website, they told viewers that 2022 will see the return of vampire quest ‘The Case Study of Vanitas,’ sports drama ‘Yowamushi Pedal,’ and action-adventure ‘Golden Kamuy.’
Funimation explained that Part 2 of ‘The Case Study of Vanitas’ is set to premiere on January 14, 2022.


“It’s a wonderful morning but the night is calling, as we’ve just caught word that we’ll be able to sink our teeth into The Case Study of Vanitas Part 2 on January 14 next year,” they said. “The much-anticipated sequel to the hit vampire anime was teased at the end of the first part’s finale in September, previewing the addition of Rie Kugimiya (FAIRY TAIL) as the mysterious Chloé.”
‘Yowamushi Pedal’ is renewed for a fifth season titled ‘Yowamushi Pedal: Limit Break’ will hit the streaming service in the Fall.


“2022 is going to be a difficult climb, but there’s already something exciting waiting for us on the other side: Yowamushi Pedal: Limit Break, a fifth season of the fan-favorite cycling anime, has just been announced for October 2022,” they said.
The historical adventure ‘Golden Kamuy’ is officially returning for a fourth season, which also got a teaser.

“Brain’s Base (To Your Eternity) is taking over production on the new season, with Shizutaka Sugahara and Takumi Yamakawa on board as chief director and character designer, respectively, and Noboru Takagi returning for series composition,” Funimation added.
The synopsis is as follows, “Separated from Sugimoto, Asirpa now travels toward the Russian border, focused on discovering more about her and her father’s involvement with the coded tattoos. But Sugimoto is determined to find and protect Asirpa! Along the way, he’ll discover new people, new cultures rich with history, and an unforgiving terrain. Will Sugimoto and Asirpa survive their journeys and reunite?”
