Fourth ‘My Hero Academia’ Film Announced With A Teaser

The Japanese superhero franchise ‘My Hero Academia’ is returning for a fourth anime film. Fans everywhere received the news in Jump Comics issue #36-37 from 2023. There are few details at this time and it is currently being announced with the tentative title ‘My Hero Academia: The Movie.’

Crunchyroll said on their website, “A fourth theatrical anime film has been announced for My Hero Academia, the anime adaptation based on the superhero manga of the same name by Kohei Horikoshi. The official title and release date for the new film have not yet been revealed. The film is currently referred to as My Hero Academia THE MOVIE (Tentative Title), and it will feature a completely original story.”

Japanese animation studio Bones will be returning to produce the movie while Toho, the production company behind Godzilla, will be distributing the film to cinemas.

Toho dropped a teaser trailer to ready fans for the flick:

MHA original creator Kohei Horikoshi will have a major role in working on the film. Several media outlets report that he will be developing the original story concept, creating new characters for the plot, and will “supervise” the movie.

“In the previous movies, Horikoshi has had some involvement, however not as much as he is going to have in the upcoming movie of My Hero Academia. According to what has been revealed so far, My Hero Academia movie 4 is going to have an original story created by none other than the author himself. This is incredible news for the fans and it means that the movie will have more of a ‘My Hero Academia’ feel to it than any other movie so far,” GamesRant reported.

This movie will follow the My Hero Academia film franchise ‘Two Heroes, (2018)’ ‘Heroes Rising (2019),’ and ‘World Heroes Mission (2021).’ The third movie was the tenth highest-grossing domestic film of 2021 in Japan. It would go on the place first in the 2022 U-NEXT poll as “The Best 10 Most Popular Works in 2022” in the Anime Rental category.
