FNAF Has A New Director, Jim Henson’s Creature Shop Onboard

Scott Games

The tale of getting Five Nights At Freddy’s from the small to the big screen has been long. Chris Columbus was supposed to direct at one point, but that was four years ago. So I wouldn’t blame you if you considered the adaptation lost, especially after social media tried to cancel the series creator. However, new life (or “gifts”) have been bestowed on Freddy and his friends.

Emma Tammi, who directed two episodes of Hulu’s Into The Dark, has been tapped to helm the long-awaited Five Night At Freddy’s adaptation, according to Deadline. Although she may not have limited experience in the director’s chair, she’ll have some help from the special effects masters at Jim Henson’s Creature Shop. Honestly, this is the only company I would trust to meet the “family-friendly” to “f’ing terrifying” turns the Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza animatronics undergo after the lights turn off.

We have some good news for those worried if the story of the haunted robots is in good hands. Tammi and the series creator, Scott Cawthon, have met, and she received his seal of approval saying:

“In meeting with Emma, I felt she had a great understanding of the franchise, and really felt that she could craft something that would please the fanbase and keep people on the edge of their seats.”

Considering the simple premise of the games, it’s surprising that a film has not already been made. It is slightly concerning that this will be a Blumhouse production. The company’s films are not known for having the best budgets, but a good director can work wonders with little money. The right mix of atmosphere and tension is key. Also, only using Freddy, Chica, Foxy, and Bonnie when necessary may deliver a great horror film. Or we could get another Willy’s Wonderland.

Unsurprisingly, a lot of people have been hounding Blumhouse’s CEO, Jason Blum, about getting this movie off the ground:

“Five Nights at Freddy’s is more consistently asked about than any other film I’ve ever worked on, and I’m thrilled to confirm it’s finally happening! With Emma Tammi at the helm, we’re committed to making Scott’s vision of the movie come to life. Rest assured, it will be and is worth the wait.”

So will you be watching the FNAF film when it is finally released?
