An Imperial Probe Droid Is The Next Premium Format Figure

The Imperial Probe Droid is our first glimpse into the darker side of Star Wars. This creepy, almost insectoid-looking self-destructing tattle tail’s appearance was followed closely by Luke’s mauling by a Wampa. It told us upfront that The Empire Strikes Back would be a cold, grim, and unsettling affair.

Sideshow Collectibles captured the ominous look of the Empire’s mechanical scout in this latest Premium Format Figure. The Probe Droid stands 27″ tall and is mounted on a Hoth Rebel base-inspired stand. The figure has rotating legs and light-up eyes. Sideshow also included a sound box to recreate the droid’s distinctive gibberish. Unfortunately, these features require (3) AA batteries, and there’s no option for a USB plugin.

The Premium Format Figure is $875 and is due sometime between June and September 2023. Something to note is that the Probe Droid is made from polystone. Obviously, there are mixed materials here, or else you wouldn’t have the light-up eyes. But if the limbs and antenna are made from Polystone, it could be effortless to break something on this big boy if it accidentally tumbles off the shelf. Hopefully, some of the more delicate parts are made from a form of plastic, so it has a little bend, just in case.

The Probe Droid Premium Format Figure measures 27” tall and 13” wide as the dark, spindly probot™ patrols an industrial corridor. Its domed head is equipped with numerous antennas and sensors in order to aid its reconnaissance mission. Every detail, from the powerful blasters in its body to the pincer-like apertures protruding from its sides, showcases the stealth and danger for which this droid is infamous.

What do you think of the latest Star Wars Premium Format Figure? Should the rod shoved up the droid’s butt be clear? Let us know below.
