Warner Bros. Television and Amazon Studios released the teaser trailer for their upcoming science fiction thriller ‘The Peripheral.’ It is a new series by Lisa Joy and Jonathan Nolan’s studio Kilter Films and showrunner Scott B. Smith, who also serves as one of the executive producers.
The show stars Chloë Grace Moretz, Alexandra Billings, Gary Carr, Jack Reynor, Eli Goree, Charlotte Riley, JJ Feild, Adelind Horan, T’Nia Miller, Louis Herthum, Chris Coy, Melinda Page Hamilton, Katie Leung, and Austin Rising.
“‘The Peripheral’ centers on Flynne Fisher (Moretz), a woman trying to hold together the pieces of her broken family in a forgotten corner of tomorrow’s America. Flynne is smart, ambitious, and doomed. She has no future; until the future comes calling for her. ‘The Peripheral’ is master storyteller William Gibson’s dazzling, hallucinatory glimpse into the fate of mankind—and what lies beyond,” Amazon said on their website.

The show is based on a novel by William Gibson, his thirteenth book.
Goodreads describes the book synopsis as follows,
“Flynne Fisher lives down a country road, in a rural near-future America where jobs are scarce, unless you count illegal drug manufacture, which she’s trying to avoid. Her brother Burton lives, or tries to, on money from the Veterans Administration, for neurological damage suffered in the Marines’ elite Haptic Recon unit. Flynne earns what she can by assembling product at the local 3D printshop. She made more as a combat scout in an online game, playing for a rich man, but she’s had to let the shooter games go. Wilf Netherton lives in London, seventy-some years later, on the far side of decades of slow-motion apocalypse. Things are pretty good now, for the haves, and there aren’t many have-nots left. Wilf, a high-powered publicist and celebrity-minder, fancies himself a romantic misfit, in a society where reaching into the past is just another hobby.”
The TV show is scheduled to be released on October 21, 2022, as a Prime Video exclusive.
