Spirit Halloween Movie Gets a New Trailer and Release Date

The famous Halloween store Spirit Halloween is known for reanimating the corpses of dead stores as it takes over closed retail locations for a few months every year. They pop up about as quickly as Dollar General stores.  But now it is going to be known for having a feature film called Spirit Halloween: The Movie.

Bloody Disgusting has just unveiled the new trailer for the film along with some release date information.

Spirit Halloween: The Movie will have a limited theatrical run starting on September 30, along with special event screenings at the Nashville Film Festival and Popcorn Frights Wicked Weekend in Ft. Lauderdale, FL..

The film will then be released on all VOD platforms on October 11 with a DVD version coming out later in October.

Of course the movie will feature animatronics and set pieces created by Spirit Halloween.

A synopsis for the film reads:

“When a new pop-up Halloween store opens in a deserted strip mall, three middle school friends who think they’ve outgrown trick or treating make a dare to spend the night locked inside the store Halloween night. But they soon find out that the store is haunted by an angry evil spirit who has possessed the creepy animatronic characters. The kids will need to embark on a thrilling and spooky adventure in order to survive the night and avoid becoming possessed themselves.

Somehow they did manage to get Christopher Lloyd to star in this one along with Rachael Leigh Cook, Marla Gibbs, Donovan Colan, Marissa Reyes, Jaiden J. Smith and Dylan Martin Frankel.

Here’s the second trailer:

The film is the directorial debut of David Poag and is produced by Strike Back Studios.

Noor Ahmed, President of Strike Back Studios offered this statement:

One of the reasons I immediately connected with the script is it is very much inspired by some of my favorite kid adventure films growing up from The Goonies, Gremlins, Monster Squad, and so many great films made by Amblin Entertainment.

Given the films that inspired this one it might be safer for families to watch it.

Spirit Halloween’s Executive VP, Kym Sarkos offered this comment:

“Spirit Halloween has an incredible and engaged fan base, so when we heard Hideout Pictures was interested in making a film inspired by our store and product, we knew our fans would go crazy for it. We partnered with the movie production company early on to ensure that everything from the store layout to the animatronics themselves felt authentic to our brand and would bring to life the magic that our fans know and love about Spirit Halloween.”
