Trailer Drops For Grinch Horror Parody ‘The Mean One’

Dr. Seuss’ Christmas heartwarming story ‘How The Grinch Stole Christmas’ is about to get a horror makeover with a new terrifying parody from A Sleight of Hand Productions, Amy Rose Productions, and Kali Pictures. In a new trailer, we see the story of the Grinch turn into a bloody massacre for the town, and only Cindy-You-Know-Who can stop him.

The premise is described as, “In the sleepy mountain town of Newville, young Cindy You-Know-Who witnessed her parents murdered by the Mean One, a bloodthirsty green-skinned creature dressed in a red Santa suit. Twenty years later, as the ravenous monster begins to terrorize the town and threatens to ruin the holidays, she finds a new purpose in stopping and killing the beast.”

The movie is directed by Steven LaMorte and written by Flip and Finn Kobler and is planned on being released on December 9th, 2022.

Digital Spy reports, “A first trailer for The Grinch horror movie parody The Mean One has been released. Set to premiere this Christmas, The Mean One stars Terrifier’s David Howard Thornton in the lead role as the murderous Grinch as he terrorises Krystle Martin’s (9-1-1: Lone Star) grown up Cindy.”

“Following the brutal death of her Mother at the hands of the Mean One, Cindy returns to town to face her fears and the festive slashing begins,” they add.

Originally, XYZ Films was set to release it. XYZ Films’ Manager of Acquisitions and Development Alex Williams told ComicBook, “As a passionate fan of seasonal horror (and the Terrifier franchise), The Mean One is exactly the kind of film that lands on my personal ‘nice list.’ This movie is a stunningly great time with a ferociously subversive turn from David Howard Thornton – and XYZ Films is so proud to be bringing this soon-to-be iconic Christmas slasher to audiences this holiday season.”

They ultimately passed on the film with Atlas planning on releasing it in cinemas.
