The Sora Smash Bros. Ultimate Amiibo is Coming Next Year

When the reveal of Sora being added to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate happened, fans of the Kingdom Hearts series were overjoyed. It was a monumental reveal that not only marked a crazy inclusion into the series but also the end of the Smash Ultimate downloadable content. For many gamers, it was a great way to end the run of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate on a very high note. But what about the amiibo for Sora that was announced sometime after that reveal? Looks like we finally have some details on when we’ll be able to get it.

Revealed during the September 14th Nintendo Direct presentation, the hero of Kingdom Hearts will finally get his own amiibo figure in 2024. With the release of the Sora amiibo, Nintendo will complete the entire line of amiibo characters for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. Every character that was included on the roster for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate was turned into an amiibo figure that is compatible with the game. Scanning a figure would let players have an A.I. fighter they could customize or an ally that would fight alongside them. The Sora amiibo figure will produce a version of Sora that players can do the same thing with.

One of the biggest concerns for fans of Kingdom Hearts and Super Smash Bros. players was that Sora might not get an amiibo figure, mostly because of the character’s close ties to Disney. The Kingdom Hearts series was a collaboration between Square Enix and Disney, which brought together many of the worlds and characters we see appear in the games. While Square Enix has shown to be open to their characters appearing in Smash Bros. Ultimate, with Cloud from FFVII and Hero from Dragon Quest, fans of Kingdom Hearts were understandably worried.

But it looks like everyone will be able to get their own Sora amiibo when it finally is released in stores next year. Unfortunately, a specific release date was not given during the Nintendo Direct presentation. However, Sora is set to be released around the time a few other amiibo appear in stores. The Xenoblade Chronicles 3 characters Noah and Mio will get amiibo figures on January 19th, 2024. While Ganondorf and Zelda amiibo figures for The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom will be released on November 3rd, 2024. Whether Sora’s amiibo will appear during the middle of the year or at the end of the year is anyone’s guess. We’ll hopefully know soon when Nintendo gives more details about the Sora amiibo and its upcoming release.
