Stranger Things Animated Series Has Been Ordered By Netflix

On April 10th, it was announced that Netflix has ordered an animated Stranger Things series. The animated series will be developed by Eric Robles and Flying Bark Productions. Robles’  past works includes other animated shows such as Random! Cartoons, Fanboy & Chum Chum, and Glitch Techs.

Though not much else is known at this time, other than being set in the Stranger Things universe, the twin brothers creators Ross and Matt Duffer, who are also the executive producers of the new series, released a statement expressing their excitement over the news.

“We’ve always dreamed of an animated ‘Stranger Things’ in the vein of the Saturday morning cartoons that we grew up loving, and to see this dream realized has been absolutely thrilling. We couldn’t be more blown away by what Eric Robles and his team have come up with — the scripts and artwork are incredible, and we can’t wait to share more with you! The adventure continues…”

With season 5 in the works as well, Stranger Things on stage tickets are currently available to purchase here. The play is titled Stranger Things: The First Shadow. The play is set to open on November 17th, 2023. The play is expected to run into 2024 at the Phoenix Theatre, London.

The summary of the play is:
Hawkins, 1959: a regular town with regular worries. Hopper’s car won’t start, Bob’s sister won’t take his radio show seriously and Joyce just wants to get out as soon as she can. When new student Henry Creel and his family arrive, they find a fresh start isn’t that easy… and the shadows of the past have a very long reach.

Brought to life by a multi-award-winning creative team, who take theatrical storytelling and stagecraft to a whole new dimension, this gripping new adventure will take you right back to the beginning of the Stranger Things story — and to the beginning of the end.
