Stone Cold, Rey Mysterio, and Chyna Join Masters of the WWE Universe

Another wave of Masters of the WWE Universe figures is on the way. Wave 8 is delivering with a trio of legends. Stone Cold Steve Austin, Rey Mysterio, and Chyna join the Mattel toyline that mashes Masters of the Universe together with the testosterone-fueled roster of the WWE.
The wave can be pre-ordered now through the Big Bad Toy Store for $54.99. Unfortunately, wave 7, which we covered last week, has already sold out.

Mattel
Stone Cold, oddly, gets Trap Jaw’s arm, belt, and jaw. Wouldn’t it make more sense for him to be Snake-Man-themed? Or give him some ice-themed weapons? That’s a bizarre combo. In the latter part of his career, I know he wore dual knee-braces, but that had nothing to do with his gimmick. Oh, well.
Mattel
Rey Mysterio nabbed Strato’s jetpack and wings. Unfortunately, there’s not much else to say about this one.
Mattel
Chyna, one of my favorite wrestlers of the Attitude Era, is a little non-descript when it comes to her toy. Chyna had a couple of iconic outfits during her run in the WWE, but Mattel chose to use a generic purple outfit. She has a She-Ra headband and an ax. The ax would double as a brush, but she doesn’t have brushable hair.
After the WWE screwed over Joanie Laurer, seeing it continue to make money off her likeness twenty years after she left, the company feels slimy. Ugh.
There’s a rumor floating around that the Masters of the Universe Origins line has been canceled. Wave 7 of the retro-inspired He-Man figures were hard to find, while the Revelation figures were bountiful. Let’s hope it’s not true, but you never know with the toy market.
What are your thoughts on Mattel’s fusion of Masters of the Universe and the WWE roster? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
