Making a viable living in the Western comic book industry was incredibly hard BEFORE the pandemic. Now many comics creators are finding themselves “between gigs” and some are even looking for handouts. The problem is, this doesn’t solve the problem.
Comics is a very dodgy industry for most people, save for a select few who make it to the top tiers of Marvel and DC, land a lucrative deal at Scholastic, or get tapped by Hollywood.
And even THEN, there’s no guarantee your career won’t take a hit once you’re no longer the “flavor of the month.”
