Cartoonito Announces ‘Jessica’s Big Little World’ Spin-Off Of ‘Craig of the Creek’

2

‘Craig of the Creek’ is getting a spin-off series in the form of ‘Jessica’s Big Little World,’ set to air on the Cartoonito programming block on Cartoon Network. The show is centered around Craig’s fun-loving and imaginative younger sister Jessica and will be aimed at younger viewers.
Warner Bros. Head of Kids & Family Programming Amy Friedman said of the TV show, “We are so thrilled with how Cartoon Network Studios has opened up Craig’s world and that his hilarious little sister Jessica, a breakout character, will now have her own show!”
Warner Media described the show in a press release saying, “No task is too big, even when you’re little! Set to debut in 2023, this preschool spinoff centers on the Creek’s favorite resilient little sister, Jessica, as she navigates her way through a world where everything seems much bigger than she is. Although she’s the youngest and still needs help with a lot, Jessica is inspired by the grown-ups and bigger kids around her and is persistent in her quest to conquer monumental kid tasks like creating a bedtime routine or saying hi to a new classmate. With the help of her friends, imaginary and real, Jessica sets off to take on the world, even if she still does suck her thumb…sometimes.”
“Following Cartoonito’s framework of Humancentric Learning, Jessica’s Big Little World aims to mirror important moments and milestones in children’s lives to help them recognize and appreciate that difficult experiences and feelings are universal. The preschool series will weave themes of communication, imaginative play, perseverance, and embracing age-appropriate strategies for overcoming obstacles throughout,” they continue.
Aside from ‘Jessica’s Big Little World,’ D-Rezzed also reported that ‘Craig of the Creek’ will be renewed for a fifth season on Cartoon Network and will receive a film spin-off in an expansion of the franchise.

DC Comics Announces Spin-Off ‘The Sandman Universe: Nightmare Country’

0

Sandman is returning in the DC Comics Black Label title ‘The Sandman Universe: Nightmare Country,’ which will explore the United States in a horror-themed series by comic book writer James Tynion IV and artist Lisandro Estherren with a special guest artist for each issue.
“The Corinthian walks the Earth again,” DC Universe explained. “One of Dream’s greatest nightmares, and a proven serial killer when set free in the past, letting him loose on the world is a dangerous choice… but a necessary one, because there is another nightmare walking America that was not born in the Dreaming—a monster that Dream, lord of all nightmares, did not make. What follows is a dark cat and mouse game, a net of nightmares that catches not just dreams but the people who dream them, in a journey that crosses all the most terrifying corners of America.”
Tynion expressed his excitement for the series saying, “The Sandman is the series that made me want to become a comic book writer.”
“Growing up, I loved reading the comics about costumed heroes and villains, but the stories that I kept wanting to put to paper lived in many genres, and I had convinced myself that the only place you could get away with that was in prose,” he continued. “It wasn’t until early high school when I got my hands on the first volumes of Sandman that I saw the immensity of what was possible in a comic book, and I became determined to spend my life making comics.”
Sandman will also face off against two new adversaries called Mr. Agony and Mr. Ecstasy. The two have disturbing, toothy grins and are not afraid to kill anyone in their path.
DC Universe also released a first look of the cover by Reiko Murakami:

The series is to launch on April 12, 2022.

Warner Media Announces ‘Craig of the Creek’ Film

0

Warner Media announced that the Cartoon Network and HBO Max series ‘Craig of the Creek’ is getting a film spin-off that will “set sail” on television and the streaming service.
They said in a press release that film is an “origin story of the Creek’s bravest explorer that could only be told through the scope of a movie. Craig Williams is the shy, new kid in town, longing for his old home and life. Little does he know, he’ll soon set off on the biggest adventure he could ever dream of. Treasure maps, pirate ships, and a villain who wants to destroy the Creek are just the beginning in this treasure hunting epic! Craig of the Creek: The Movie is expected to premiere in 2023.”
The film will be executive produced and co-created by Emmy-nominated ‘Steven Universe’ writers Matt Burnett and Ben Levin. The show stars the voice talents of Philip Solomon, Noël Wells, H. Michael Croner, Lucia Cunningham, Phil LaMarr, Terry Crews, and several others.
Cartoon Network Studios President Sam Register explained, “In Craig of the Creek, Matt Burnett, Ben Levin, Tiffany Ford, and the entire crew created a charming, imaginative, and inclusive world that represents the best in kids animation.”
He added, “We could not ask for a better foundation as we expand the stories of the Creek into preschool and long-form projects ensuring that Craig of the Creek is well on its way to becoming our studio’s next big kids franchise.”
‘Craig of the Creek’ has been running on Cartoon Network since 2017 for a total of four seasons. It was recently announced that it will be renewed for a fifth season.
Warner Bros. Head of Kids & Family Programming praised the expansion of the show, saying, “Since its debut, ‘Craig of the Creek’ has been an instant audience favorite, capturing the joy of being a kid along with the humor and heart of family life.”

Why Does Marvel’s Bullseye Statue Look Like Robbie Rotten?

0

Diamond Select is currently taking pre-orders for a statue of Daredevil’s longtime foe, Bullseye. The Bullseye Premier Collection Statue stands 14.2″ tall and is priced at $175. The villain who can hit anything with anything should arrive in October of this year. However, something about this guy’s face reminds me of someone. Someone who is number one.
Robbie Rotten? Yeah. He totally looks like Lazy Town‘s Robbie Rotten!
I get it. Bullseye is supposed to look sinisterly gleeful as he sometimes appears in the comics, similar to the Rhino statue we covered earlier. Still, there’s no denying that he looks more like Robbie Rotten disguised as Bullseye. Hell, I’d love to see that angle played out in a Daredevil comic book.

A Diamond Select Toys release! Target acquired! Daredevil baddie bullseye gets the Premier Collection treatment with this all-new 9-inch statue! With one foot up on a Daredevil target and playing cards in both hands, Bullseye is ready to take out whoever he needs to in order to get into your collection. Limited to only 3,000 pieces, it comes packaged with a numbered certificate of authenticity in a full-color box. Designed by Caesar and Clayburn Moore, hand-sculpted by Clayburn Moore.

Though the face may be a bit comical, at least he doesn’t look like Colin Farrell’s version of the character in the laughable 2003 Daredevil film. Mark Steven Johnson was an odd choice to direct this film and 2007’s Ghostrider. He delivered something very bland and squandered a cast of primarily great actors in both cases. This was before the MCU, so maybe many people just saw comic book films as quick cash-grabs, and that was it. It would explain a lot.

Reject Modernity Return To Traditional Red Sonja

There’s talk of a new Red Sonja movie starring someone who isn’t a redhead. Odds are she’ll also be wearing a lot of body armor because we’re not allowed to have sexy escapism anymore. Well, screw that. Give me the traditional Sonja any day.
Ask, and ye shall receive! We spotted this new 1/12 scale Red Sonja figure, and she looks fantastic. Rather than going the traditional route with visible joints at the limbs, this Sonja is constructed with a metal skeleton overlayed with a seamless skin. This is similar to what Mezco is doing with their new Xenomorph figure.
Executive Replica’s Red Sonja will be arriving this month, and she can be pre-ordered right now from the Big Bad Toy Store.

Red Sonja is known as an outlaw, mercenary, warrior and queen. After escaping her bloody origin, she hunted the wilderlands of Hyrkania, theived the streets and palaces of Pah-Disha, sold her sword on battlefields from Koth to Aquilonia, and liberated countless mugs of ale from barrels throughout the Hyborean world.

This battle maiden is so fierce that she only needs the skimpiest armor while battling her enemies. What? You want her to wear a formless battle suit that doesn’t accentuate her curves? Get out of here with that nonsense! Not everything in fiction has to mirror the real world or our ever-changing views.
The legendary red-haired warrior comes with the following accessories:

  • 3 Sets of hands
  • Battle top with attached shoulder guard
  • Battle bottom
  • Armband
  • Belt
  • Sword and sheath
  • Dagger and sheath
  • Pair of thigh bands
  • Boots
  • Ax
  • Shield
  • Base

I can’t say for sure if Sonja is anatomically accurate under that armor, but boy, do I hope so.

0

The animated series promises to maintain the irreverent and violent nature of its predecessor. Amazon Studios recently announced that they plan on releasing ‘Diabolical’ on Marth 4th, 2022 in multiple regions.
Amazon said in a press release, “Prime Video announced that the eight-episode animated anthology series The Boys Presents: Diabolical, set in the universe of the Emmy-nominated hit The Boys, will premiere all episodes on March 4 exclusively on Prime Video in more than 240 countries and territories worldwide.”

Ming-Na Wen Wants ‘Agents of SHIELD’ Spy Melinda May To Return For Doctor Strange Sequel

Fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe often debate whether the ABC show ‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’ is canon to the MCU. The series features iconic actress Ming-Na Wen as super-spy Melinda May, who works with Agent Phil Coulson, played by Clark Gregg reprising his role from several Phase One films including ‘Marvel’s The Avengers.’
Ming-Na Wen discussed her desire to see Agent May return, but through the films, particularly ‘Doctor Strange: Into The Multiverse of Madness.’
“Oh gosh, I mean, any of them. I’m such huge fans of all the characters. I mean, I love Doctor Strange because I’m… I don’t want to say what they call his fans, but I am definitely a Benedict Cumberbatch fan,” she told the RadioTimes. “And I used to always joke about Chris Hemsworth and Thor, but I’m gonna stop doing that because my husband doesn’t like it too much, even though he knows I’m just joking. [laughs] But any of them, any of them, you know? Especially with Black Widow, I think that would be really cool to have, like, an all-female thing happen.”
“Fingers crossed. Who knows,” she said according to Digital Spy.
‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’ ran on ABC from September 2013 to August 12, 2020 for seven seasons and one-hundred thirty-six episodes. The first five seasons tied to events related to the MCU films while the final two seasons took a different turn and often referenced a “multiverse” theory.
The Den of Geek reports that Marvel Studios considers ‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’ and fellow spin-off series ‘Agent Carter’ as a “backburner” to the whole of the MCU.
‘The Story of Marvel Studios: The Making of the Marvel Cinematic Universe’ co-writer Tara Bennett said, “Our books have no binary proclamation of any kind about the shows, which I stated as well. In 250k words of contextual narrative, they do explain who creatively conceived of [Agent Carter] and ran it and then how it then folded into the MCU. The books only feature projects creatively produced by Marvel Studios.”
Since the “multiverse” was mentioned in ‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’ prior to the Doctor Strange sequel or even ‘Loki,’ which also deals with the ideas of multiple universes and variants, there is a window open for favorite characters like Melinda May to return.

Simu Liu Dishes On ‘Shang-Chi’ Sequel

Simu Liu is excited about the recently announced sequel for the Marvel Studios ‘Shang-Chi And The Legend of the Ten Rings.’ The movie did better than expected with it becoming the ninth highest-grossing film of 2021.
Liu recently sat down with Complex where he shared his thoughts on a sequel and where the franchise can go in the context of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
“I feel pretty good. Like, OK, I wasn’t necessarily surprised,” he explained. “But what I really loved was hearing about Destin [Daniel Cretton] coming back. Again, not a surprise, but we absolutely love to see it. He’s such a critical part of the success of that movie. And I want to say, I often get a disproportionate amount of credit for the movie doing as well as we did, but it really, really is Destin. You know, it’s the filmmaker and storyteller.”
Liu continued, “It’s very much his medium. And so, him coming back means that we get to do it all over again, which is fantastic. And then, seeing all the other stuff that he’s locked in with Disney and Marvel makes me incredibly happy as well. I think he deserves all the things in the world, and all the success. He’s a truly special filmmaker.”
“I think just what Shaun decides to do with all this newfound power, you know? It kind of consumed his father, consumed Wenwu. I’m curious as to how someone much younger, much more inexperienced, would fare against the rings,” he said. “Just this idea of all of a sudden being gifted something that’s so powerful but also so dangerous. And then the other big question I have is, you know, in what way does Shaun fit in with the rest of the MCU? Who are you going to see? What kind of crazy team-ups? What kinda tie-ins, Easter eggs? I’m just as much in the dark and everyone else, so I don’t know anything, but I’m excited to dive into that process.”
‘Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings’ is part of “Phase Four” of the MCU and also stars Awkwafina, Meng’er Zhang, Fala Chen, Florian Munteanu, Benedict Wong, Michelle Yeoh, Ben Kingsley, and Tony Leung. Cretton will not only return to direct a sequel but will also co-write it.

‘LBX Girls’ Anime Is Getting An English Dub

Brought to us from the Japanese animation production company Studio A-Cat, ‘LBX Girls’ is a spin-off of the anime ‘Little Battlers Experience,’ itself an adaption of the video game Danball Senki from Level-5.
‘LBX Girls’ is directed by Keitaro Motonaga and written by Yasuyuki Muto with a run of twelve episodes, so far. Funimation recently announced that they had acquired the license to produce an English dub.
“It’s time to gear up and dive right into the LBX Girls English dub,” they announced on their website.
“Bravely standing up to the hordes of Mimesis is Megan Taylor Harvey (Diary of Our Days at the Breakwater) as Riko, Laura Stahl (The Promised Neverland) as Yui, Kayli Mills (Re:ZERO -Starting Life in Another World-) as Suzuno, alongside Kira Buckland (JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure STONE OCEAN) as Kyoka and Heather Gonzalez (Kemono Jihen) as Miharu,” they continued. “They’re joined by Rachel Slotky (Kemono Jihen) as Mana, Zeno Robinson (The Case Study of Vanitas) as Nate and Doug Stone (Kill la Kill) as Chief.”
You can watch the trailer for the series below:

MyAnimeList describes the synopsis as follows:
“Riko Morisawa, a young girl from Tokorozawa, goes on a trip to Tokyo with her friend Mana. While they roam around the shops of Ikebukuro, Riko spots a billboard about an event related to the Little Battlers eXperience (LBX) line of toys. Mana urges Riko to purchase one, and although initially declining, Riko soon avails a few LBX kits for her father.
Upon opening one of the boxes labeled “LBX Assassin,” a temporal rift manifests itself and transports Riko into the sky of an alternate Japan. While she falls at terminal velocity, an exosuit based on the LBX Assassin materializes around her, saving her from the descent. However, on the ground, she encounters the Mimesis, lethal metallic creatures that invade world after world. As she flees away from these monsters, Riko is rescued by four other LBX-equipped girls. After learning about Riko’s predicament, the group decides to recruit her into their combat unit.”
Madeleine Heil and Laura Stahl serve as the voice directors.

DC Comics Drops “First Look” For New Catwoman Creative Team

0

DC Comics is bringing on a new creative for their ‘Catwoman’ title including writer Tini Howard and artist Nico Leon starting with issue 39. They will take the story in a different direction with Selina Kyle no longer living in Gotham City and battling a new villain.
“Selina Kyle’s been on quite a ride since nearly marrying Bruce Wayne, spending time in sunny Villa Hermosa before setting a stake in Alleytown, the blue-collar borough that seemed to draw far too much attention from all the wrong people. However, Selina’s always been a Gotham girl at heart, and with next week’s Catwoman #39, she’s returning to the iconic city…and to its even more infamous underworld,” DC Universe said.
“The debut chapter written and drawn by Catwoman’s stylish new creative team of Tini Howard (writing her very first DC ongoing series) and Nico Leon, issue #39 shakes up Selina’s status quo, returning her to the world of glamour and crime in which she thrives. Declaring war on Gotham’s powerful mob bosses, Selina seeks out help from an old—and potentially dangerous—flame, while finding herself entwined with a charismatic masked man named Valmont, who claims to represent a collective of thieves. Of course, after leaving her Strays in Alleytown, Selina would prefer to fly solo, but is it possible the key to winning her war against the crime families may be found within Valmont’s intriguing offer,” they continued.
They also released a “first look” of the cover:

Catwoman was set to marry the Dark Knight during Tom King’s run on ‘Batman,’ but she left him at the altar during issue 50. The two continue their love affair in the Black Label series ‘Batman/Catwoman,’ which is also written by Tom King. In the mainstream comics, she would go on to save him from death during the “City of Bane” arc and would help him in the “Joker War” storyline by James Tynion IV.
