After years of trying, I think Marvel has finally managed to make Miles Morales more than just “that other Spider-Man.” His starring role in 2018’s Into the Spider-Verse helped a lot. I’d somewhat forgotten about him after those early Ultimate days. The animated film gave him a lot of unique character traits I felt he was missing in the comics.
Now I actively look forward to seeing Miles show up in the collectibles market. Like today! Miles Morales is joining Spider-Gwen with this new 23.5″ tall Premium Format Figure from Sideshow Collectibles. Miles is available in two versions, the masked $630 version and a $650 “exclusive” edition with Miles unmasked.
Expect this young Spider-Man to swing into your neighborhood between April and July 2023. Sideshow offers a few different layaway options if you don’t have several hundred dollars on hand at the moment.
Based on the hero’s iconic appearance in Marvel Comics, the polystone Miles Morales Premium Format Figure features a mixed media costume application — his non-removable fabric jacket adds dimension and style to a sculpted black and red spider-suit. Thematic paint application reflects the blue glow of the city lights onto Miles’ legs and sneakers as he slings webs all the way home. Detailed textures and raised red webbing on his suit give added depth to the striking design, making Miles Morales practically pop off the page into three-dimensional Spider-Man collectible form.
The following artists created this Premium Format Figure:
- Bernardo Esquivel (Paint)
- Esther Skandunas (Cut and Sew)
- Richard Luong (Design)
- James W. Cain (Sculpt)
What did you think of Miles when he first took over for the dead Ultimate Spider-Man? Did it take a while for the new character to grow on you? In the comments section below, let us know your experience with the comics and characters.
