Microsoft Docs Show The Elder Scrolls VI Not On PlayStation 5

The Elder Scrolls VI is one of the most anticipated games currently being developed by Bethesda Games. Being the sequel to their previous hit Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, expectations for the next entry of the role-playing series are staggeringly high. But not everyone will be able to experience Bethesda’s next big game. Those who own an Xbox Series X or Series S will be fine, but PlayStation 5 owners may be out of luck.

According to a chart shared by Stephen Totilo over Twitter, the Elder Scrolls VI is listed as an Xbox and PC exclusive. The information comes a response to the FTC by Microsoft during their recent court case. The Elder Scrolls VI is listed for a 2026 or later release, with some notes about it towards the bottom. Stephen noted that during a testimony, Xbox’s Phil Spencer said under oath said that the game was still around five years out from being released.

As shown in the picture, various games are listed as released on PlayStation, which includes the Elder Scrolls Online. Other games shown to have been released on PlayStation 5 include Ghostwire Tokyo, Fallout 76, and Death Loop. However, Elder Scrolls VI does not have a green checkmark under the same section. Many Bethesda fans interested in the game hoped Microsoft would still let the game be on PlayStation 5, despite acquiring Bethesda back in 2020. Phil Spencer has stated many times since the acquisition that Xbox still wants to have games available in multiple places, and that exclusives would be handled on a case-by-case basis.

It looks like Elder Scrolls VI won’t be among the games given a pass to be on PlayStation 5. So if you’re interested in playing the next big Bethesda game, you’ll need to have an Xbox console or a very good PC to play it. At least everyone has a long time to plan ahead before the game finally comes out.
