YouTube has changed drastically in 2025, and not for the better according to a lot of content creators. Dropping views, plummeting ad rates, nonsensical channel bans and AI moderation running amuck have been just the beginning of what is looking like the END of the YouTube we’ve all come to know these past 20 years years.
Instead YouTube seems like it wants to reinvent itself to compete with Netflix and Disney Plus, as well as TikTok. Basically, it wants to be everything but YouTube as we now know it.
We talk about that in the context of PewDiePie saying that he’s done with gameplay videos, and how more and more OG creators seem to be sailing into the West.
So will YouTube pivot back to what worked, or will it be an AI Shorts infused Hollywood hellscape in another six months? Unfortunately, I think I already know the answer to this one…
