HiDive Nabs Anime Rom-Com ‘Tada Never Falls In Love’

The romantic comedy anime ‘Tada Never Falls In Love’ is a 2018 television show directed by Mitsue Yamazaki and produced by the Japanese animation studio Doga Kobo, which released a total of thirteen episodes. Sentai Filmworks announced that they had acquired the North American distribution rights to the series and would stream it to HiDive.

“In the mood for a heartwarming anime about unexpected romance and personal growth,” HiDive said on their website. They added, “…because Tada Never Falls in Love (Tada-kun wa Koi wo Shinai) is coming on Sunday, June 11, 2023.”

The series is written by Yoshiko Nakamura with character designs done by Junichiro Taniguchi and music composed by Yukari Hashimoto.

Wikipedia describes the synopsis as follows,

“The story follows Mitsuyoshi Tada, a boy who has never known love. He is taking pictures of the cherry blossoms in full bloom when he meets Teresa Wagner, a transfer student from Larsenburg, a European country. She got separated from her travel companion upon arriving in Japan. Tada helps her and brings her to his grandfather’s coffee shop. Teresa’s travel companion and bodyguard Alec arrives and beats up Kaoru misunderstanding him as chasing after Teresa. They discover the hotel they’re supposed to be staying at is actually next to Tada’s cafe. The next day, they enroll in Tada’s school and are in the same class. Alec agrees on joining the Photography Club on Teresa’s request she wants to take great pictures. Mitsuyoshi is actually an aspiring photographer and wants to become his father’s footsteps and become a famous photographer. Mitsuyoshi lost his parents in a car accident during his childhood. The one last photo his father took and his camera were the only things he has from his parents. The story focuses on the adventures of Tada and his friends and their building relationships.”

Japanese singer Masayoshi Ōishi performs the opening theme song “Otomodachi Film” and the ending theme is voice actress Manaka Iwami performing a cover of the Sambomaster song “Love Song.”
