Legendary G.I. Joe comics writer Larry Hama, who created the backstory for most of the Joe and Cobra characters from the 1980s, doesn’t get paid royalties from Hasbro or Marvel on his G.I. Joe run. The Skybound Kickstarter did almost $4 MILLION and Hama only got paid for signed bookplates. Like the Dungeons & Dragons OG creators, Hasbro keeps making money off this guy’s work and won’t kick him a few bucks to make his golden years a little better. “Comics will break your heart, kid.”
