Commander Kruge was the first major Klingon threat in Star Trek’s motion picture saga. Even more surprising than the newish look the Klingons were sporting in Star Trek III: The Search for Spock was that Christopher Lloyd was playing the leader of the hostile clan. It was a massive departure from his role as Reverend Jim Ignatowski on Taxi at that time.
EXO-6 has not only managed to capture Lloyd’s look in the film but also the delicate details found in Commander Kruge’s uniform. Even EXO-6 has declared that this figure represents the “most complex and layered replica” it has ever created.
For $295, I’d sure hope that this 12″ tall Klingon is as premium as a collectible can get. That is, after all, up in the price range of most Hot Toys figures.
EXO-6 is taking pre-orders for Klingon Commander Kruge until August 31st. However, the estimated shipping window for the figure is not until the second quarter of 2024.
“This 1:6-scale figure of Kruge is the most complex and layered replica that EXO-6 has created to date. Kruge and his crew were the first characters to display this Klingon design that set the standard for all Klingons from Star Trek: The Next Generation through Star Trek: Strange New Worlds. Designed by award-winning costume designer Robert Fletcher, this costume was reused in The Next Generation for Worf.”
Kruge will come with the following:
- Fully Articulated Body: More than 30 points of articulation allow the figure to be displayed in multiple dynamic poses, approximately 32 cm tall.
- Commander Uniform: Meticulously researched, this Klingon uniform matches the pattern, and colors of the original costume recreated in 1:6 scale.
- Boots: Plastic boots sculpted to match Klingon battlewear.
- Hands: Six hands with sculpted Klingon rings to recreate a variety of poses.
- Display Base: A hexagonal display base will provide additional support for the figure.
- Disruptor: The Klingon sidearm of choice, worn hilt-out in a holster hanging from a shoulder chain.
- Communicator: Authentically reproduced communicator based on the prop from Star Trek III.
- A removeable robe with Klingon symbols attached at the shoulders.
- A non-removable belt with Klingon-style belt buckle.
- Armored vest with shoulder pads.
- Vambraces with Klingon symbols along the length.
