‘Cyberpunk: Edgerunner’ Announces English Dub Cast


Brought to us by Studio Trigger and CD PROJEKT RED, ‘Cyberpunk: Edgerunners’ is an upcoming anime spin-off of the video game ‘Cyberpunk 2077.’ The show will feature ten episodes and will stream on Netflix.

According to Anime News Network, the staff includes “Hiroyuki Imaishi (Gurren Lagann, Kill la Kill, Promare) is directing the anime at Trigger, while Yoh Yoshinari (Little Witch Academia, BNA: Brand New Animal) is the character designer and animation director for the anime.” They add, “Hiromi Wakabayashi (Kill la Kill, Promare) as the creative director, Masahiko Otsuka (Star Wars: Visions ‘The Elder’) and Yoshiki Usa (SSSS.Gridman, SSSS.Dynazenon creative director) as the scriptwriters, Hiroyuki Kaneko as the assistant director, Yūto Kaneko and Yusuke Yoshigaki as assistant character designers, and Akira Yamaoka (Silent Hill games) as music composer.”

The show is set to be released on September 13, 2022.

MyAnimeList explains that the show “tells a standalone story about a street kid trying to survive in a technology and body modification-obsessed city of the future. Having everything to lose, he chooses to stay alive by becoming an edgerunner—a mercenary outlaw also known as a cyberpunk.”

The Cyberpunk 2077 wiki describes the plot as follows,

“The player character V, is contracted along with Jackie Welles, to steal an important piece of technology from the Arasaka Corporation – known as the chip of immortality – by fixer Dexter Deshawn. The duo manage to infiltrate the megacorp and steal the device but the plan goes awry and Jackie appears to die. After meeting with Dexter, V is betrayed and left for dead in a landfill, but manages to survive – possibly in-part due to the chip of immortRafał Jakiality – and is haunted by the digital-ghost of iconic Rockerboy, Johnny Silverhand.”

Rafał Jaki will serve as the showrunner and an executive producer.
